MES Choir 2017-2018

We are so excited that your child has decided to participate in choir this year.  We have great things planned and look forward to a fun-filled year. To keep you informed this year, I need all parents to sign up on REMIND.  This will be our main form of communication. Please text the following message @meschoir4 to 81010.

Choir practice will be as follows; 5th grade on Wednesday mornings from 7:45-8:15 and 4th grade on Thursdays from 7:45-8:15.  You may drop off your child between 7:35-7:45 at the side gate on Elm St.  If I am not standing there, please do not drop your child off at that location.  If you need an earlier drop off time, Ms. Hobbs handles early morning childcare in the cafeteria from 6:30-7:45.  The cost is $1.50 daily.  She will release them at 7:40 to come to my room.  If your child eats breakfast at school, they need to eat before coming to choir.  Also, if your child rides the bus, they need to be here before 8.  With over 100 kids signed up for choir, attendance and behavior will be key.  I have discussed this with them and they are aware that they cannot miss more than 3 practices, or have behavior and/or grade issues in class.

Our first performance will be singing the National Anthem at the Varsity Volleyball game on Tuesday, October 3. We will meet at 5:30, sing at 6. You can leave afterwards or stay to cheer on the Mustangs. The next performance will be our Veteran’s Day program, Friday Nov 10 @ 9am.

Our shirt order forms need to be turned in by September 20th to assure we receive them by Oct 2 for our Oct 3rd performance.  The cost will be $8 cash. For performances, students will be asked to either wear jeans or black pants and black shoes.  Please fill out the form below and submit the form with your money in an envelope.  Please put your child’s name on it.

I will update you with more performance dates on REMIND, so please don’t forget to sign up now!

*Choir practice begins this week. 5th grade on Wednesday and 4th grade on Thursday mornings from 7:45-8:15.  Please drop your child off at the side gate on Elm St.  I will be there at 7:35 to start letting kids in and monitoring.  Please drop them off on the side of the road that is closest to the school so they do not have to cross the street.  Parents, please form one line, just like the car rider line.  If you arrive after 7:45, please drop your child off in the car rider line in the front of the school, the gate will be locked at 7:45.
*We will be using REMIND for all our correspondence. Please text @meschoir4 to 81010.  This will be our main form of communication.
We are looking forward to another exciting year in Choir!  This past summer we were blessed to have the opportunity to sing the National Anthem at the Houston Astros vs Texas Rangers game on June 13th. It was such an amazing experience for all of us!
All 5th and 4th graders are encouraged to sign up for Choir and we will have practice on Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 7:45-8:15. Wednesday will be 5th grade and Thursday will be 4th grade. This year we will also begin a 3rd grade Choir starting in January.  This gives us the opportunity to plan ahead for the following year and be prepared to no longer have 5th grade at this campus. Each student will need to purchase a Choir shirt that we will wear for our performances.  The cost is generally around $8 and will be collected in September.  I look forward to the many opportunities this year in Choir at MES!
