Magnolia ISD is now offering the opportunity for students living outside the district boundaries to experience our district through Open Enrollment. This program is available for students in grades kindergarten through 12th grade. Students who are accepted through Open Enrollment will be assessed a tuition fee which is approximately what an average home would pay in property taxes.
By offering Open Enrollment, the district is able to get more state aid and keep local tax dollars here which reduces the recapture rate. For the 2018-2019 school year, Magnolia ISD will be subject to Chapter 41 of the Texas Education Code, also known as Robin Hood, which allows the state to recapture a district's tax dollars as the local tax base increases. Allowing enrollment outside the district boundaries will allow MISD to keep more local tax dollars in the district.
