Parents, it was such a pleasure to meet most of you at Meet the Teacher. I hope to meet with you all soon to review your child’s educational goals for the upcoming school year. I am here for you and your child, should you have any questions or concerns. Please contact me during school hours or via email.

Introduction:
My name is Sarah Barranco, born and raised in North Pole, Alaska. This is my 4th year at MES. I have taught for about 9 years here in Texas and Hawaii. I got married last year September to my wonderful husband Tracy Donnelly.  We have two wonderful boys.  Conrad will be attending 2nd grade this year at MES.  My youngest Knox was born June 22 and a wonderful addition to our family. I have an older sister that lives in Spring, Texas and a twin brother that lives in Virginia serving our country in the U.S. Army. Both my parents have been in the education system for the past 30 years in Fairbanks, Alaska. My mom is a retired high school Spanish teacher and my father is a retired computer technician for the district.

Education:
I graduated from North Pole High School in North Pole, Alaska. After graduating high school I moved to Hawaii to attend college. I needed to thaw out from the cold winters in Alaska. I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in History and a Minor in Criminal Justice at Chaminade University. After graduation I decided to continue studying for my Masters degree in Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix. During my college days, I worked at various public and charter schools as a tutor, assistant and teacher in Hawaii. Moved to Texas in 2009 and started working as a Teacher at a Charter School. I started working for Magnolia Elementary School since 2013 and have not looked back. Love being apart of Magnolia Elementary staff helping students, parents and the community.

Parents and Students:
I welcome you to 4th grade with open arms. Our 4th grade team is so excited to have your children this year. We are going to have a wonderful fun-filled year. There will be lots of learning, growing, building and fun along the way. Remember we are a team with a common goal: our kids. Together we can achieve greatness. Fourth grade will be a challenging year. Why? Fourth grade is a milestone year. Students take a hold of their education and become more independent with their learning. This year the children will “read to learn” rather than “learn to read”. Lets work together to make this year GREAT!

Interest and Hobbies:
I love to travel and visit new places it is such an adventure. Historical locations is one of my favorite places to visit because learning about what has happened in our past and actually standing there is so awesome. As a teacher I have a never-ending love for learning. I strongly believe we are all life long learners. I'm a very physical and active person. I'm currently a speed skater for Champions Inline Speed Team. I also love to read, write, organize, swim, recreational skate and especially spend time with my family.
