Where knowledge is our
Leaders in this world truly are readers. Books take us anywhere we want to go. My goal is to develop in my students the thirst for reading that I enjoy.
My philosophy is:
Dare to Teach. Never Cease to Learn.
I consider myself very blessed to be an elementary school teacher. Teaching my favorite subject, reading, is just icing on the cake! Plus, I get to work for Magnolia ISD, the best district in the state of Texas! This is my 25th year teaching at Magnolia Elementary. Graduating from SHSU with a minor in science and a major in elementary education, I found myself employed by Magnolia and have been happy here all along. I have been a third, fourth, and fifth grade teacher, teaching self contained all subjects in third. In fourth grade I have taught all subjects as a departmentalized teacher. I have been an instructional coach for ELA and math, and have enjoyed teaching GT classes for grades one through five. Seven years ago I had the opportunity to return to a foundation ELA fifth grade classroom and have enjoyed it ever since.
I also sponsor the Chess Club at Magnolia Elementary. Last year was sooooooo awesome! We won first place at the district tournament! The kids and I were EXTREMELY excited! We will meet on Mondays at 7:30 a.m. in the school library. Chess Club is open to third, fourth and fifth grade students. Parents with knowledge and skills in chess are VERY welcomed also!
I have two children and a grandchild. My husband and I enjoy hiking, water sports, and relaxing at home with our family. My favorite relaxing activity is to snuggle up with a good book. My goal is for my students to catch my love of reading!
